London Bridge Hospital wins 1st place award in London Hospital Garden competition
The London Garden Society awards promote gardening within London, and the annual awards cover a large range of categories from private gardens to large businesses. We entered two categories within the competition that evaluated two areas at our hospital:
• patios and window boxes, containers and hanging baskets – these are containers outside 29 Tooley Street, St Olaf House and at the front of the restaurant by the river
• small gardens – these are the bay trees, plants and flowers outside the main hospital
In July, two judges who are members of the society visited the site to judge us and view the areas. This month it was announced that London Bridge Hospital was awarded 1st place in the London Hospital Garden competition.
The company who looks after both the indoor and outdoor planting at the hospital and our Outpatient Centres is called Window Flowers. We have been working with them for several years; they are on site twice a week to water the planting and indoor plants and they change the flowers at main reception weekly. The outdoor planting is changed quarterly to reflect the seasons. They also provide us with the Christmas arrangements and trees which have just been organised for this year.
